Classroom-based language assessment of oral competences in foreign language teaching
Development of an assessment grid for speaking competences in French classes at lower secondary level in Bremen
This research project focuses the development of an assessment grid that can be used for criterion-referenced assessment of oral communicative competences in French classes towards the end of lower secondary school in Bremen. Qualitative aspects, questions of practicability and the educational policy context were taken into account in the creation of the construct, based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages and the local curriculum, as well as in the development steps of the assessment grid. The documented research process and the discussion of the results exemplify how and with what limitations the development, validation, revision and piloting of an assessment grid for oral competences can succeed, partly in cooperation with teachers.
